This webcast will show how to utilize descriptive epidemiology to organize and analyze data and will introduce ways to locate public health surveillance data on the internet. Types of evidence utilized in evidence-based public health include reviews of scientific literature, public health surveillance data, program evaluations, and qualitative data. This webcast will demonstrate effective search strategies to identify relevant resources for public health practice. Systematic reviews, the Community Guide, and PubMed and other sources will be covered. In addition, how to organize and summarize these studies for a variety of reporting purposes will be presented. Sample searches will focus on Michigan-specific public health needs.
