Adapting Public Health to the New Normal: A Virtual Conference: Workforce Development

August 18, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Western Region Public Health Training Center (WRPHTC) is hosting a virtual conference on “Adapting Public Health to the New Normal.” As the public health workforce works to address multiple public health crises in 2020, including COVID-19 and racism, it has become clear that “normal” is no longer functional for the majority of society. There is an immediate need to reframe and generate a new paradigm that promotes health using lessons learned about effective use of technology and by addressing the social determinants of health that result in health disparities.

The goal of the conference is to present strategies for the adaptation of public health services. This virtual conference is an opportunity to share strategies to improve the ability of public health to effectively address health disparities and to adapt public health services to the current pandemic situation, discuss application of those strategies with experts, and prepare for change.

These presentations will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with live Q&A sessions on Fridays. Registration is free and Continuing Education Units for Certified Health Education Specialists will be available.
