Democratizing Water Affordability: A discussion on structural racism & environmental segregation across America

March 22 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

“We the People of Detroit, the Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights, Midwest Environmental Justice Network and Freshwater Future, are hosting a virtual event that will explore the relationship between access to water and structural racism. We will hear from speakers who have been on the front lines of the struggle for access to water; and those who have had success implementing a water affordability plans and policies in their cities. Attendees will walk away with a renewed understanding of the need for an affordable water structure in Detroit and throughout the nation. They will also learn how structural racism has created an environment where people of color are systematically cut off from this vital resource for life.”
