Webinar: A Public Health Approach to Prescription Drug Overdose Prevention

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that every day 44 people in the U.S. die from overdose of prescription painkillers and many more become addicted. Given this burden placed on the nation’s health CDC has characterized prescription drug overdose as an epidemic.  This webinar will feature a high level overview of the science and include federal and state level prevention efforts. The prescriber’s perspective will be presented with a focus on overcoming some of the unique challenges faced in this role. Recognizing the important role of policy in addressing this burden a PDO state legislation tracking system will also be discussed. Ultimately, this webinar will highlight the comprehensive prevention measures necessary to curb this epidemic.
